$2 Hearing Aid

After months of gentle urging from his wife, a man finally had to admit he needed a hearing aid.

The audiologist confirmed it. "How much do they cost?" he asked her.

"As you might expect," she said, "There's quite a wide range. They run from $2.00 to $2,000."

"Wow, the low end is lower than I would have ever guessed!" he said. "Let's see the $2.00 model."

The woman gave a knowing nod, and pulled it out of the closest drawer. "You just stick this button in your ear and run this little string down to your pocket," she said.

"How does it work?" the man asked.

"Oh now, come on! For $2.00 it doesn't work!" she said.

"I don't understand," the man said, but the woman had heard that before.

"When people see it on you," she said, "they know to talk louder."

I think the button and string is trying to look like the man is wearing an Ipod so people see that and try speaking louder

It makes you look like you have ear buds in and listening to a mp3 player.

she's describing earbud headphones

It's made to look like a hearing aid and people will instinctively talk louder around the person.

The reason you don't get it is because there's nothing to get... it isn't funny.

She's saying that when people see someone with a hearing aid, they'll speak louder even though the presence of the device would normally indicate that any hearing loss was being compensated for. Get it? Ha ha . . .

It's like an earbud (headphones). People will think he's listening to music and talked louder.

It's like headphones... not funny

That didn't make me laugh. The moral of the story is that with the button and string people will think you have a real hearing aid, and thinking you still wouldn't hear them, will automstically talk louder.

fucking stupid.

It means that the time someone sees you with a hearing aid they will increase theirvokume to talk to you....

That was so awesome.

As anyone who wears hearing aids knows, people who see you with one tend to talk much louder than usual. It actually gets pretty annoying. I'm wearing this thing so that you *don't* have to shout...
Funny joke though. Love it.
